Novice Dressage Area Qualifier

I must start with what a fab job Southerndown did and how smoothly it ran. Also Pencoed wow! It’s so much better and the new arena was fab. It was such a big difference so don’t be put off because it’s Pencoed !
Any way poor Kelly, my ever suffering friend, got down nice and early to declare to find we now need BD points written (sorry if this has always been the case ) but it really put a sting in the early start! But she got it sorted and all the riders started.
The Prelims had a tight warm up but they all managed. Well done Nerys, Jackie, Chrissie and Emma, who had the highest placed Prelim out of the VOU. Well done Emma coming 2nd. So sorry I missed you!
Ruth had a great day and was so happy that Shimla didn’t buck in his test. Kelly, who had only sat on Silver once, did a cracking test.
On to the Novice tests. After lots of walking to find the vax check as it moved ! We all passed PHEW!
So we went to warm up in the fabulous new arena.
Kirsty did a fabulous test and was the highest places out of all the novices in N28 from the VOU.
Saran had a lovely test too even with the judge leaning on the horn when she went down the center line!
Johnny and I had a blast. God I love my pony and don’t really care what the judge says because he’s mine not hers and I love him! 63% will do nicely for 12th place. Yes I wasn’t Last !😍 massive thank you to Helen Dawson for all her help with Johnny for all these years!
Now for the N30 now if any of you crazy people have read N30 it’s walk to canter ... trot to halt and horrid changes of legs over X !! Nasty test
Anyway, Donna was fantastic and her mare is lovely
Cara was smashing she hasn’t ever done a Novice test on the mare and I think she has only done one Prelim, at Triley, before she entered this! Fab job and it’s lovely to have you in the VOU family x
Now the last rider our wonderful Tod and Ellen
She did a fab job, she’s just stepping up to Novice and I thought their test was wonderful. A little tension just kept her off the top 10! There’s lots more to come.
And thank you Coral Ducroq for being a fab supporter all day and helping out xx
Well done everyone! I’m so proud to be a part of such a fab family ♥️♥️♥️

Area Dressage Qualifiers
Wow what a day it was on Sunday!
VOU had three teams at the area dressage. We had a winning team and now the VOU is off the national championships!
Sarah Canning writes: “What a great day and thank you to all the VOU riders who came along and took part.
“Liz Sorrell hasn’t competed since she was a kid and I don’t think she’s ever done a dressage test – or Lola either! They were both fabulous and so proud of them for 6th place individually and team 3rd. Big thanks to Rhi Lewis for lending her your horse!
“Then Liz Morgan, who’s horse has never seen white boards, had a fantastic individual 3rd and team 1st
Autumn Wren got an individual 2nd and rushed straight from the Qualifiers to the Royal Welsh. Have an amazing time!
“Donna Harris was individual 2nd and so was Judith Powell. Coral Ducroq was individual 3rd. They got a fantastic team 3rd and are hopefully off to Hartpury for the regional finals.
“Joanne Tooze and Kim Young were both brilliant. Kim’s never done a long arena test and absolutely smashed it!
“Jo had some massive improvements and what a difference in a year! I can’t wait to see what next year will bring.
“Ellen Morgan and the super Tod came 1st individually and were part of the winning team ♥️
“Jess Blackford smashed a 2nd individual, and was in the winning team too.
“And last but not least….. Me!!
“I lost my gloves and had to buy new ones. Johnny did his warm up test and won – but he was the only one in it!
“Long arena 15 and he was amazing. We got both my canter leads in both tests thank you Vicky and Andrew at GHF for all your training and help! Johnny managed a 68 and was 3rd individually.
“I’m sooo proud and I am so grateful to all at VOU for all your support and being my horsey family.
Thank you xxx”

“What a great team we all make. Sorry to those who didn’t make it, but I LOVED every minute. Thanks to my super groom Robyn and also to Andrew Williams from GHF who spent an afternoon getting soaked teaching me to do the style jumping. Thank you but now I need a few more lessons!”
